“The just Lord resides within her; he commits no unjust act. Every morning he reveals his justice. At dawn he appears without fail. Yet the unjust know no shame” (Zephaniah 3:5 NET)
Zephaniah is one of those books in the Bible that tends to be overlooked. However, the message we can receive from God’s word through Zephaniah, is important. Here, the author speaks about the corruption within the walls of Jerusalem. It also begins to show us the contrast between the corruption and the Lord’s righteousness. We are reminded that regardless of the outcome, God is always with us and that every morning we are given a clean slate. However, we must choose to accept this clean slate only after we understand the shamefulness of our sins. God does not fail and His promises are always there for us to take along the journey of life. Therefore, repent and draw near to the heart of our Savior. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott
